The WWA announces DataTach’s PropSlip unit as the official data collecting device of the 2008 Boat Manufacturer Program

The World Wakeboard Association has recently partnered with the DataTach Corporation, producers of the PropSlip on-water data collecting device to become the official testing unit of the WWA Boat Manufacturer Program. The WWA is proud to be the first to use this PropSlip technology in the tournament towboat market.

The PropSlip device calculates the difference in forward movement your boat receives by one rotation of the prop in a perfect situation, and what is occurring in real time. This difference is called “prop slip”. Prop slip determines the efficiency that a boat is running at every point during a wakeboard pass and will give some great insight on where each particular model excels. “The PropSlip unit calculates a lot of specific information about a wakeboard boat’s performance when driving double-up patterns and holding a straight line down the lake that will be extremely useful for the WWA, its drivers, and members. We’re excited to have such innovative technology now associated with our evaluation process” said Shawn Perry, Executive Director of the WWA.

The Prop Slip unit will mark the first ever on-water data collecting device that will not only benefit the industry core, but the everyday consumers in the wakeboard boat industry. The President of the WWA Shannon Starling stated “Any tool that we can use to give boaters a better understanding of how the boat they’re driving handles in different situations will not only make them a more educated boater, but a better driver. PropSlip gives us the ability to let a driver know how any given boat will handle in real time.”
