WWA Hires Pro Wakeboard Tour Official - Shawn Perry

Orlando, Florida – This week the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) announced the hiring of Shawn Perry as the new Sponsorship Sales and Events Manager. Perry has previously worked with World Sports and Marketing serving as the Information Center Coordinator and Wakeskate Official on The Pro Wakeboard Tour and other major contests. He will be held responsible for many of the day-to-day operations, grass-roots organization, membership fulfillment, insurance coordination and general office duties at their world headquarters in Orlando, Florida. Upon completion of his training Perry will begin to focus on planning and managing events, attracting new sponsors, and working directly with organizers on expanding the scope of events the WWA currently sanctions.
“Shawn’s passion for the growth in all disciplines of wakeboarding is exciting.  He has been a breath of fresh air as the WWA looks to the future,” stated current President of the WWA Shannon Starling when asked about the hire.

Perry is originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and moved to Florida to pursue his education at the University of Central Florida. Shawn graduated in December 2005 with his bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He has also previously worked as a consultant where he assisted and facilitated the start-up of non-profit organizations. His passion for the sport and involvement in the industry will prove to be a major asset to the WWA and the pursuit of its long term goals. Perry is very excited to be a part of the WWA and wants to continue the tradition of being an organization for riders, by riders. “I feel as though being a rider myself, as well as being involved with many of the names and faces in the industry will be very instrumental in the future of the WWA and I’m stoked to be a part of it” says Perry. 

The WWA was founded in 1989 and has been wakeboarding’s governing body producing standards for global wakeboarding event rules, safety standards, and fair competitions.  The WWA is the original wakeboard association and has been copied but never duplicated.
