“Winning the overall Monster Energy Triple Crown this year has my stoke so high. It was the toughest year of competition I have ever had with everyone throughout the world making it to all the stops.” states Tom Fooshee, 2-time overall champ. “It was such a blast to be able to ride with the world’s best riders at some of the newest and most progressive parks ever.”

In just two years, the Triple Crown has become known as North America’s fiercest wake park competition series. The 2011 season was the first time that riders from all over the globe followed the Triple Crown to each stop. Daniel Grant (Thailand), Matty Hasler (Australia), Dominik Gurhs (Germany), and Fredy von Osten (Germany) all battled it out versus top riders form the US such as: Tom Fooshee, Keith Lidberg, and Julian Cohen.

As the most decorated and respected wake park rider, Fooshee knows the compatition will continue to elevate as more contests with larger prize money evolve. Fooshee’s modest approach will become even more tested at the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Championships Hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE as the best riders around the globe will converge yet again. $50,000 USD will be up for grabs at this contest, and not one rider will be holding back. The WWA World Championships are open to all ages and ability levels.

This weekend was the third and final stop of the Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown presented by Alliance Wakeboard Magazine. Hydrous Wake Park played host to the event literally opening up just days before. Their facilities are top notch including 7 unit obstacles, a system 2.0 park, and plenty of those platinum blonde Texas gems. Once again, Tom Fooshee was a force to be reckoned with in all categories, but when it came to obstacles only, The French Canadian brothers Raphael and Olivier Derome refused to slow their roll and rounded out the day in the top 2 spots. They’ve spent all summer at home honing in their skills in their own two way backyard cable park, and their hard work paid off. Other highlights in the obstacle only division included Shane Bonifay, Bob Soven, Brenton Priestley and Mitch Langfield.

When it came to the men’s professional full cable division, Tom dominated the field of competitors and took the title for the third consecutive stop, which also crowned him King in the overall standings. Tom has been on top of his game throughout the series, and stop # 3 was no exception. In the women’s professional division, Angelica Schriber threw down several air tricks, and took to the rails with style and precision, rounding out the field as top seed. In pro wakeskate we saw Texan Aaron Reed make an appearance over the weekend, as well as Travis Doran, Bret Little, and Daniel Grant. Daniel Grant proved to be the victor with his consistency that can only be achieved through the powers of candy.

To round out the weekend on saturday night Alliance and Monster threw down $1000 bucks cash to watch all the riders duke it out on the Unit quarter pipe in the system 2.0 park. Cable park operations manager Cody Johnson was boosting at least 5 feet out off the top busting big backside indy pokes to disaster stalls on the way down, Brenton Priestley and Shane Bonifay were also launching some massive pokes , and also a new name Brady Webb came in with some tricks up his sleeve. After Cody’s insane boosts and Brady Webb’s corked 360 the audience voted for a three man ride off where once again, Brenton Priestley perfected his airs, but the real show began when Cody landed an invert onto the top deck and Brady rode out of a corked 540. There was some serious progression on the water and eventually Brady was crowned the champ.

It’s been an incredible 3 stop series from Winnipeg to Tampa and wrapping up in Allen, TX. This is it for 2011, we look forward to another great series in the 2012 season. Congratulations again to Tom Fooshee and all of our champions throughout the events.

For Immediate Release:

From Winnipeg, Canada (July 12, 2011) – It was an eventful day on the water yesterday for the final rounds of the first stop of the Wake Park Triple Crown here in Winnipeg, Canada. In usual fashion, the “little big man” Tom Fooshee dominated the waters all day long riding several head to head rounds before taking the Pro mens AND Pro men obstacle only titles. Israeli Lior Sofer also turned heads throughout the day but was eventually eliminated by Tom in one of the most exciting semi-final rounds of the afternoon. We also witnessed a head to head battle between Germans Freddie Von Osten and Dominik Guehrs, but fatigue seemed to have set in for both riders come the final rounds as they were each victims to failed handle passes on the far end of the lake. The judges ruled Freddie’s run the better of the two and he advanced to battle Tom for the top spot of the weekend. In Obstacle only Keith Lidberg and Daniel Grant battled Tom, who prevailed once again sticking a flawless backside 450 transfer to 90 out (among other things). Daniel Grant finally got his piece of the pie in the pro wakeskate division riding his new Liquid Force wakeskate, barely edging out Bret Little who also had a stand-up pass.

Adrenaline Adventures treated the entire city of Winnipeg to one hell of a show last night from hip hop artists Swollen Members directly following the awards ceremony. The pro riders quickly changed their minds and decided that they would rather be hip hop stars as they watched in awe from the backstage VIP section. The crowd surfers shredded the gnar to round out an incredible event here in Winnipeg.

Stop # 2 of the Wake Park Triple Crown will be held at McCormick’s Cable park in Tampa, FL July 22nd and 23rd. See you there!

Top wakeboarders and wakeskaters will travel from Australia, Asia, Europe, and the Americas to compete and enjoy the festivities. And if you follow McCormick’s Cable Park on Twitter or Facebook, you know they’ve been avidly building new obstacles and tuning the cable to ensure that every detail is double checked.

This stop will offer something different than ever before, as this will be the first time a clockwise-rotating cable will be used in the Triple Crown. Even the top riders in the world will be challenged, yet excited for this change in format. “With a left-foot-forward cable in the mix, it’s really going to show some diversity in both wakeboarding and wakeskating,” current Triple Crown champion Tom Fooshee said. “That’s the best part about the Triple Crown, the overall winner is going to be the absolute most versitile rider in the whole world.”
