From Abu Dhabi, UAE (November 16, 2011) – The World Wakeboard Association (WWA) and Al Forsan International Sports Resort would like to announce the official scheduled practice times for the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Championships hosted by Al Forsan. The infrastructure at the Al Forsan wake park includes two full cable systems and a two-tower system; one of the only cable parks in the world to offer both a right-foot-forward (counter-clockwise) and left-foot-forward (clockwise) cables at a single location. The WWA will now confirm that the 2011 Wake Park Worlds competition will take place on the right-foot-forward (counter-clockwise) cable. This six-tower cable will etch the history of the WWA, as the first ever WWA World Series event to be held in the Middle East.

In order to avoid extensive waiting lines on the starting dock, the WWA is offering reserved and closed practice times for pre-paid and pre-registered riders only. Four allocated time slots on the contest cable have been scheduled for pre-paid and pre-registered riders to have the choice of the time slot of when he/she wants to practice. The closed practice passes are included with each rider’s Wake Park Worlds registration fee. Each time slot is limited to a small number of riders to ensure the maximum amount of practice during daylight hours; these slots are three hours each.

If you would like to sign-up for your scheduled practice time, then go to wakeparkworlds.com/registration and register to enter the 2011 WWA Wake Park Worlds hosted by Al Forsan. Your registration confirmation will include instructions of how to get your name on the list.

From Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. This division, based on camaraderie and fun, is structured to cater the 40 and older age group.

“One of my favorite aspects about the world championships is that all ages get to compete” says WWA President Shannon Starling, “it is this feature that creates the real worlds vibe.”

In WWA Wakeboard World Championships (boat) history, this division has been one of the most competitive and determined divisions of the contest; and with overwhelming inquiry from riders, the WWA Wake Park World Championships looks to set a new precedent within the division.

This weekend was the third and final stop of the Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown presented by Alliance Wakeboard Magazine. Hydrous Wake Park played host to the event literally opening up just days before. Their facilities are top notch including 7 unit obstacles, a system 2.0 park, and plenty of those platinum blonde Texas gems. Once again, Tom Fooshee was a force to be reckoned with in all categories, but when it came to obstacles only, The French Canadian brothers Raphael and Olivier Derome refused to slow their roll and rounded out the day in the top 2 spots. They’ve spent all summer at home honing in their skills in their own two way backyard cable park, and their hard work paid off. Other highlights in the obstacle only division included Shane Bonifay, Bob Soven, Brenton Priestley and Mitch Langfield.

When it came to the men’s professional full cable division, Tom dominated the field of competitors and took the title for the third consecutive stop, which also crowned him King in the overall standings. Tom has been on top of his game throughout the series, and stop # 3 was no exception. In the women’s professional division, Angelica Schriber threw down several air tricks, and took to the rails with style and precision, rounding out the field as top seed. In pro wakeskate we saw Texan Aaron Reed make an appearance over the weekend, as well as Travis Doran, Bret Little, and Daniel Grant. Daniel Grant proved to be the victor with his consistency that can only be achieved through the powers of candy.

To round out the weekend on saturday night Alliance and Monster threw down $1000 bucks cash to watch all the riders duke it out on the Unit quarter pipe in the system 2.0 park. Cable park operations manager Cody Johnson was boosting at least 5 feet out off the top busting big backside indy pokes to disaster stalls on the way down, Brenton Priestley and Shane Bonifay were also launching some massive pokes , and also a new name Brady Webb came in with some tricks up his sleeve. After Cody’s insane boosts and Brady Webb’s corked 360 the audience voted for a three man ride off where once again, Brenton Priestley perfected his airs, but the real show began when Cody landed an invert onto the top deck and Brady rode out of a corked 540. There was some serious progression on the water and eventually Brady was crowned the champ.

It’s been an incredible 3 stop series from Winnipeg to Tampa and wrapping up in Allen, TX. This is it for 2011, we look forward to another great series in the 2012 season. Congratulations again to Tom Fooshee and all of our champions throughout the events.

Tom Fooshee (USA) was unstoppable this weekend! It was for the fourth time that the US Wake Park rider finished on top of the podium at the Telekom Extreme Playgrounds. His competitors Rocco van Straten (NL) and Lior Sofer (ISR) were left behind right after his first run. Only German rider, Dominik Gührs could keep up with him, but had to tip his hat to Fooshee after a second run of 82.33 by the American. Dominik Gührs, Rocco van Straten, and Lior Sofer finish 2nd 3rd and 4th respectfully.

“Best wakeskater of all time” – that´s the title for Reed Hansen! Nobody beats this guy at the moment. It was his first appearance at the Telekom Playgrounds – actually, it was his first contest on European soil. Everyone knew that Hansen taking the title wouldn’t be an easy task with Moritz Thiele riding against him, but Thiele had to be satisfied with 2nd place in the end as Hansen laid down several tech flip tricks. Last year’s winner Tarik Ghoniem finished in 3rd.

The BMX final was nothing but spectacular! UK top rider Mark Webb showed once again, that there´s no one better at the miniramp right now. Right with his first run he reached 95.00 points, left everybody else behind and took his title home for the third time in a row. The surprise of the weekend was Daniel Tünte (GER). The youngster was winner of the Telekom Local Support Miniramp Challenge which brought him in company of the pro´s. He showed absolutely no fear for big names and was rewarded with the second place, leaving even Italian pro Alessandro Barbero behind.

WWA Wake Park World Championships Hosted by Al Forsan December 7-10 will be the final stop of the WWA Wake Park World Series. As the Rankings stand now, Tom Fooshee is back on top, but don’t rule out German riders Dominik Gührs and Fredy von Osten nipping at Fooshee’s heels. Click Here for the full WWA Wake Park World Series Rankings.

Indianapolis, Ind. – Fans lined the shores of The Precedent in northern Indianapolis today to catch the finals rounds of action at the 2011Rockstar Energy Drink WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra. The sport’s top pros laid it all on the line in an exciting showdown to see who will be the 2011 world champion.

Capping off the 18th annual event was the Pro Men’s division, with its five-man final, The finale was led by top seed Harley Clifford and four former world champions, including Andrew Adkison, Rusty Malinoski, Phillip Soven and defending titlist Dean Smith.

All five pros threw down impressive runs, but it was Phillip Soven who made the biggest impact on the water to take home the 2011 world title – his third of his career.

The 22-year-old Florida native’s run was highlighted by his Crow 540, Whirlybird 720 and Toe-side 900, which earned the now three-time world champion a score of 90 points.

Harley Clifford and Dean Smith rounded out the Pro Men’s podium, respectively.

The WWA Worlds also served as the final stop in the 2011 WWA Wakeboard World Series, which crowned Harley Clifford its winner today. Clifford’s second-place finish was good enough to win the four-stop points race and its cash prize.

Phillip Soven and Adam Errington rounded out the top three in the Series, respectively.

In addition to the two titles handed out today in the Pro Men’s division, former world champion Dean Smith won the Indmar Double Up Contest today with his massive Hootchie to Back-side 360.

In the Pro Women’s division, the top professional female riders in the world faced off in a six-woman final for the world title. All eyes were on top seed Amber Wing to see if the 28-year-old Aussie would win her fifth straight contest in the Queen of Wake series and reclaim the world title she won in 2007.

But with two uncharacteristic falls in her final run, Wing fell to second place, putting defending world champion Nicola Butler at the top of the contest podium.

The English standout had a stand-up run today that included a Moby Dick and a Roll to Blind to give Butler the winning score of 91.67 and her third world title in four years.

“I’ve been training like crazy at OWC for this contest,” said Butler. “It’s the best contest to win and I’m stoked to keep the title for another year.”

In the Pro Wakeskate division, four-time defending champion Reed Hansen made history today, winning his fifth consecutive world title – the most back-to-back wins in the 18-year history of the WWA Worlds.

“Yesterday I had a little set back, so I knew I had to put something together today,” said Hansen. “With the rain and being second off the dock, I changed up my run, but after my first fall, I went back to the original plan.”

The Groveland, Fla. native landed three 360 variations, a Switch Big Spin and a Late Shove-it in his first pass, plus two 180 variations to earn the winning score of 70 points.

Stu Shinn and Grant Roberts rounded out the top three, respectively.
