Daniel Grant might just be the most entertaining rider on the planet. This duel-sport wakeboarder and wakeskater is viewed as a competition threat, no matter if he’s strapped in or not. Known as the Candy Man or Turtle (Tao), Daniel is a 14-year-old globetrotter; this Thai rider started traveling the world alone in 2011 and expanded on his travel in 2012. Daniel set the record for youngest professional world champion in WWA history by taking the 2010 WWA Wake Park World Championship; and he’s won multiple WWA Wake Park World Series stops in Pro Men, Pro Features, and Pro Wakeskate as well. Tom Fooshee, James Windsor, and Nick Davies have their eyes set on Daniel, in fact all three believe that he’s going to podium in at least one division at the 2012 WWA Wake Park World Championships hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort.
The first few things that come to mind when thinking about Abu Dhabi are state-of-the-art and luxury. And Al Forsan International Sports Resort holds true to each of these expectations. From the moment of arrival to the gate at the world-class sports resort, you are greeted with complete service.

Hands down the best rookie in all of wakeboarding this year is James Windsor. He’s a 17-year-old Australian rider that has taken the world of wakeboarding by storm. Windsor has been jet-setting all over the place this year, riding in all 6 stops of the WWA Wake Park World Series including the Monster Energy Triple Crown stops, Wake the Line in Germany, and the Grand Opening at Repub1c Wake Park in Manila, Philippines.
James’ mindset is that he’s got long hair and doesn’t care, if he needs a massive backside 900 1st trick off the dock… no problem. Every rider in the field will try to put the pressure on Windsor, but what they don’t know is that Windsor will step up to the challenge and knock them down every time. Windsor won two WWA Wake Park World Series stops back-to-back in Features only and had several other podium finishes in 2012, and the biggest contest of the year is still to come. Angelika Schriber is one of the most respected and revered riders on and off the water. At the 2011 Wake Park World Championships Ange rode in the Features Only division against all guys, to no one’s surprise, she won. A few minutes later she was pulled off the dock and took 2nd place in the Pro Women’s division. To say the least Ange doesn’t just sit around and wait for the next big thing, she makes it happen; constantly producing videos, photos, and interviews for digital publication, magazines, local media, or just for fun.
2012 has been Ange’s best year yet. She won “Female Trick of the Year” at the 2012 Transworld Wakeboarding Magazine Wake Awards, and “Best Female Ambassador for Wakeboarding” by Unleashed International Wake Mag, Ange has traveled to almost every stop WWA Wake Park World Series, including two stops of the Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown presented by AllianceWake.com.

In this second installment of The Limelight, we’ll take a look into the technical riding of Nick Davies. This insane English rider is a past World Champion in the Pro Men’s division at the 2009 WWA Wake Park World Championships. Sitting in the judge’s booth in 2009 at CWC, I’ll never forget NickyD starting with his first trick as a heelside backside 900, hitting the rails solid, and tossing an array of super techy flats tricks including back mobe 5, raley 5, and a double-S-to-Blind. This pass at the time was simply unbeatable. You could of put three or four of the other top rider’s passes together and it still wouldn’t have held up to Nick’s 2009 World Championship pass.
Nick has been a little under the radar the past couple of years due to an almost career ending knee injury which he incurred while trying a double tantrum off the wake. But fortunately for us, he’s back on top of the game, winning the forth stop of the 2012 WWA Wake Park World Series at Protest Cable Call. Nick is on fire right now, and his momentum is taking stride at just the right time.

Tom Fooshee has become known as not only a polished contest rider, but also lively and unique when free-riding behind the boat or at a wake park. Tom is coming into this year’s world championships as the top ranked rider on the WWA Wake Park World Series and is heavily favored to win his 5th World Series Overall Title. The “King of Cable” is the most decorated wake park rider in the business; he has been an Alliance Wakeboard Magazine Rider of the Year, 2-time Transworld Wakeboarding Magazine Wake Park Rider of the Year, 3-time Monster Energy WWA Triple Crown Overall Champion, and 4-time WWA Wake Park World Series Overall Champion. Here’s an in depth look at Tom Fooshee. Read the rest of this entry »
