Orlando, Fla. The Queen of Wake – the world’s elite professional women’s wakeboarding series – announced today it will expand its 2011 schedule from five events to eight stops during its upcoming season. The sport’s top pros will now have eight contests to accumulate as many points as possible in their quest for the Queen of Wake crown.

Sponsored by MonaVie – the series’ official nutritional beverage – the 2011 Queen of Wake season will open with the Wake Games on April 28-May 1 at the Orlando Watersports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The Wake Games has kicked off every season, since the series’ inception in 2008.

The Queen of Wake will continue its season with four stops on the Pro Wakeboard Tour, including Acworth, Ga., on May 21; Fort Worth, Tex., June 4; Colorado Springs, Colo., June 11 and the greater Seattle area of Monroe, Wash., on July 9.

Following Monroe, the Queen of Wake will head to Minneapolis, Minn., on July 27-31 for the WWA Wakeboard National Championships, followed by the WWA Wakeboard World Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., on Aug. 18-21.

The 2011 season wrap up with the Pro Wakeboard Tour finale at Volunteer Landing in Knoxville, Tenn., on Aug. 27 & 28, where the 2011 Queen of Wake champion will be crowned.

Last year, the United Kingdom’s Nicola Butler took home the 2010 Queen of Wake title – her second crown of her career – after edging out Australia’s Amber Wing and current Wakeboard World Cup champion Raimi Merritt, who finished second and third in the 2010 standings, respectively.
