“After a visit to Al Forsan, it was immediately evident that this was the place to hold the world’s largest cable event and its best riders,” said WWA president Shannon Starling. “Quite simply, it is the most amazing cable park and sports facility ever created. You have to see this place — and ride it — to believe it.”

The 15 million-square-foot sportsman’s paradise features two freshwater cable lakes (with clockwise and counterclockwise full cable systems, a two-tower unit and first-of-its-kind filtration system), and is located in the new heart of Abu Dhabi, in Khalifa City, adjacent to the famous Yas Island — home of Ferrari World and the Abu Dhabi F1 racetrack. As a membership and public based club, Al Forsan has created a combination of premier, sport-specific venues for equestrian, shooting, go-karting, paintball and wakeboarding designed to host elite global events.

The WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Al Forsan International Sports Resort is the pinnacle of the WWA Wake Park World Series, the longest-running professional and amateur cable tour in the world. Al Forsan will host the WWA Wake Park World Championships December 7-10, 2011. Registration will be open to all riders beginning September 1.

“The goal of Al Forsan is to be the world’s finest sports resort by hosting the premier events and athletes,” said Atef Nagib, the Managing Director of Al Forsan International Sports Resort. “Our partnership with the WWA will position Al Forsan as the destination for the world’s top cable wakeboard athletes, and we simply cannot wait to show the world’s best amateur and professional riders this facility.”

From Lake Alfred, FL

Camsur Watersports Complex was proud to host the final stop of the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series January 20-23. The exotic five stop series included Brazil, Canada, Abu Dhabi, USA, and Philippines. Each stop combined the top wakeboarders from around the world in their attempt to capture the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series Overall Title.

Even-though defending champion Phil Soven of the USA captured his forth Wakeboard World Series Title, everyone had their eyes set on the points race between CWB teammates Trevor Hansen of the USA and Andrew Adkison of the USA. Hansen started the Series off with three finishes ahead of Adkison, but the light shined on Adkison in Canada as Hansen’s lead was narrowed by Adkison’s near podium finish. However, Hansen was quick to retaliate at the 2010 WWA Rockstar Worlds with a 3rd place finish earning a total of 37 more points than Adkison. Both riders had a strong finish at the final stop of the World Series, but in the end it was Hansen that claimed his highest finish in a WWA Wakeboard World Series claiming 2nd place just behind Soven. Austin Hair and Danny Thollander round out the top five.

Hansen’s thoughts on the year: “I am super pumped to end up in second overall for the World Series. There was some awesome riding that went down throughout the different events. Can’t wait for next year!”

Adkison states: “Knowing the level of the International field that competed this year, earning a top 3 overall finish is something I’m very excited about.”

Keep an eye out for next year’s WWA Wakeboard World Series to be released soon. The riders are already gearing up for an exciting 2011 season.

Rankings for the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series are below.

Alliance UK and the WWA were proud to play host to the first ever Wakestock Abu Dhabi over the weekend. The first class event was held at Corniche Beach in Abu Dhabi, and $50,000 in prize money was passed out to the worlds top wakeboarders. During the three day festival that included live performances by Maximo Park and De La Soul, the top riders competed in boat, system 2.0 and rail contests.

The rail jam kicked off on Thursday with 20 riders in the qualifying round, and most were just getting acclimated to the rails set up by the Alliance UK crew. The top 16 out of that qualifying round moved on to Friday, where the format then went to head-to-head battles. The crowd saw some of the best rail riding in the sport in the 8 head-to-head heats, with some stand out hits by Parks Bonifay, Aaron Rathy and JD Webb.

Due to heavy winds and a mild sand storm, the boat portion of the event on Friday was postponed until Saturday. Instead, everyone rode in a system 2.0 best trick contest. The boys went out and faired the conditions and had some of the most fun of the weekend. Three riders came away with the best tricks of the session, with JD Webb landing his first ever Pete Rose, Adam Errington landing a switch double s-bend to blind, and Padiwat Jaemjan of Thailand landing a massive tail grab front to blind.

Saturday was the most action packed day of the event, and the quarter final round behind the boat took twenty riders down to ten. The semi finals then knocked it down to the top 4 finalists. It was Harley Clifford that wound up on top of the podium on the main stage before De La Soul’s headline set. Rusty Malinoski, Phil Soven, and Aaron Rathy followed respectively. The finals for the Pro Women put Dallas Friday on top, Amber Wing in second place and Nicola Butler in third.

The Rail Jam on the System 2.0 pool gap was the round up for the entire event Saturday night. The head-to-head semi finals saw JD Webb battle it out with Aaron Rathy, and Parks Bonifay going against Marc Rossiter. In one of the closest heats of the event JD edged out Aaron Rathy, and the cinderella story Marc Rossiter took out legendary Parks Bonifay. The final saw the best trick of the entire weekend by Webb when he did a switch toeside 270 to back lip, gap to front board on the angle to angle rails.

Check out all the video from the contest on the Alliance UK site.
