“Winning the overall Monster Energy Triple Crown this year has my stoke so high. It was the toughest year of competition I have ever had with everyone throughout the world making it to all the stops.” states Tom Fooshee, 2-time overall champ. “It was such a blast to be able to ride with the world’s best riders at some of the newest and most progressive parks ever.”

In just two years, the Triple Crown has become known as North America’s fiercest wake park competition series. The 2011 season was the first time that riders from all over the globe followed the Triple Crown to each stop. Daniel Grant (Thailand), Matty Hasler (Australia), Dominik Gurhs (Germany), and Fredy von Osten (Germany) all battled it out versus top riders form the US such as: Tom Fooshee, Keith Lidberg, and Julian Cohen.

As the most decorated and respected wake park rider, Fooshee knows the compatition will continue to elevate as more contests with larger prize money evolve. Fooshee’s modest approach will become even more tested at the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Championships Hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE as the best riders around the globe will converge yet again. $50,000 USD will be up for grabs at this contest, and not one rider will be holding back. The WWA World Championships are open to all ages and ability levels.

The World Wakeboard Association announces the schedule for the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown Presented by Alliance Wakeboard Magazine. The growth and focus on cable wakeboarding is bringing more sponsors, more athletes, new parks and bigger prize money to the Wake Park Triple Crown for 2011. This summer the tour travels to three new locations including Adrenaline Adventures in Winnipeg, Manitoba, McCormick’s Cable Park in Tampa, Florida and Hydrous-Allen Wake Park in Allen, Texas. Each state-of-the-art wake park is gearing up for this one-of-a-kind wake park contest series.

In addition to North America’s most competitive cable series, the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown will include more prize money and more focus allotted to the obstacles division. Now riders like Kevin Henshaw, Gabe Lucas, Shane Bonifay, Raphael Derome, Shawn Watson, JD Webb and all of the athletes who are focused predominantly on the obstacles will have a legitimate obstacle oriented Wake Park Triple Crown Series with their own overall championship.

This snow park in the winter and wake park in the summer plays a true four season roll in the community.

McCormick’s Cable Park in Tampa, Florida will host the second stop of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown July 23-24. This will be the first major contest that McCormick’s Cable Park will host and the staff is ready to show the nation what their park is all about.

Only time will tell if history will repeat itself at the final stop of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown and the 2011 WWA Wake Park National Championships as riders battle it out for the title in Allen, Texas at Hydrous-Allen Wake Park. This exciting new wake park, located adjacent to Allen High School will bring the masses out to see what will likely be a dramatic finale of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown.

“America’s Cable Park Group and Hydrous – Allen Wake Park are excited to work with Monster Energy and the WWA as we host our first Wake Park Triple Crown and Wake Park Nationals in the same year,” states owner Chad Lacerte, “Allen Station Park is a tremendous setting for this event which advances our goals to give the youth fun, exciting, and community building activities to be involved in.”

Last year, the 2010 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown was largely dominated by wake park sensation, Tom Fooshee. Though in the final round at the WWA Wake Park National Championships held in Cincinnati, Lior Sofer of Israel, managed to hand Tom Fooshee his first loss in years. Lior finished the series second overall behind Fooshee, followed closely by Keith Lidberg and an ever-growing global crew of athletes. Make sure to keep a close eye on the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown this year as riders attempt to lay down the most progressive lines to claim the title. Riders such as Lior Sofer, Keith Lidberg, Marc Shuster, and European wildcard riders, like Nick Davies, Freddie Van Osten, and Dominik Guehrs will all be vying for Fooshee’s title.

Alliance UK and the WWA were proud to play host to the first ever Wakestock Abu Dhabi over the weekend. The first class event was held at Corniche Beach in Abu Dhabi, and $50,000 in prize money was passed out to the worlds top wakeboarders. During the three day festival that included live performances by Maximo Park and De La Soul, the top riders competed in boat, system 2.0 and rail contests.

The rail jam kicked off on Thursday with 20 riders in the qualifying round, and most were just getting acclimated to the rails set up by the Alliance UK crew. The top 16 out of that qualifying round moved on to Friday, where the format then went to head-to-head battles. The crowd saw some of the best rail riding in the sport in the 8 head-to-head heats, with some stand out hits by Parks Bonifay, Aaron Rathy and JD Webb.

Due to heavy winds and a mild sand storm, the boat portion of the event on Friday was postponed until Saturday. Instead, everyone rode in a system 2.0 best trick contest. The boys went out and faired the conditions and had some of the most fun of the weekend. Three riders came away with the best tricks of the session, with JD Webb landing his first ever Pete Rose, Adam Errington landing a switch double s-bend to blind, and Padiwat Jaemjan of Thailand landing a massive tail grab front to blind.

Saturday was the most action packed day of the event, and the quarter final round behind the boat took twenty riders down to ten. The semi finals then knocked it down to the top 4 finalists. It was Harley Clifford that wound up on top of the podium on the main stage before De La Soul’s headline set. Rusty Malinoski, Phil Soven, and Aaron Rathy followed respectively. The finals for the Pro Women put Dallas Friday on top, Amber Wing in second place and Nicola Butler in third.

The Rail Jam on the System 2.0 pool gap was the round up for the entire event Saturday night. The head-to-head semi finals saw JD Webb battle it out with Aaron Rathy, and Parks Bonifay going against Marc Rossiter. In one of the closest heats of the event JD edged out Aaron Rathy, and the cinderella story Marc Rossiter took out legendary Parks Bonifay. The final saw the best trick of the entire weekend by Webb when he did a switch toeside 270 to back lip, gap to front board on the angle to angle rails.

Check out all the video from the contest on the Alliance UK site.
