Announces 2005 World Series Event Dates
Orlando,
FL; The World Wakeboard Association announced that its
2005 World Series will include five marquis wakeboarding
events in cities around the World. The World Series
is a procession of high-profile-wakeboard competitions
tied together through a cumulative points system awarding
a champion an annual purse at its season-ending pinnacle
event – the WWA World Wakeboard Championships.
For 2005 the five World Series events will be held in
Tokyo, Japan; Ontario, Canada; Clear Lake, California,
Perth, Western Australia and Maroochy, Queensland. Combined
purse for these events is nearly $US200,000 and the
season ending award will be $US25,000.
The first event is the J-Round Nissan X-Trial Cup held
in Tokyo, Japan on July 22-24 in the city-center amongst
the backdrop of beautiful Tokyo and the historic Rainbow
Bridge. The J-Round X-Trials official towboat will be
Tige’ Boats.
The second stop will be held at Wakestock in Ontario,
Canada on August 11-14. Wakestock has moved to a location
that is twice as big as last year’s that will
bring more people. Malibu Boats, the Wakestock official
towboat, will be pulling riders in the expression session
throughout the weekend.
The third event brings the World Series to the U.S.
for its only American venue which will be held at the
BoardStock Wakeboard and Music Festival in Kelseyville,
CA on August 18-21. This event has been known to be
the biggest West Coast wakeboarding celebrating is now
in its tenth year. The Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa’s
5500 seat amphitheatre will host major acts such as
Sugar Ray and other bands throughout the weekend. For
the second straight year the World Wake Surfing Championships
will be held in conjunction with BoardStock. All riders
will be pulled by Centurion Boats.
The fourth event moves to Perth, Western Australia on
October 7-9 for the Gravity Games. The Gravity Games
festival includes skateboarding, and motocross exhibitions
on the waters edge. The official towboat for Gravity
Games is Supra Boats.
The final event of the WWA World Series is the WWA World
Wakeboard Championships held in Maroochy, Australia
October 13-16 in the heartland of Queensland’s
Sunshine Coast. The World Championships, now in its
sixteenth year will be the backdrop for crowning this
year’s WWA World Series Champion. Malibu Boats
will be the official towboat of the WWA World Wakeboard
Championships.
