2005 World Series Winner announced at the WWA World Wakeboard Championships in Maroochydore, Australia
Throughout the year over 100 pro wakeboarders drifted around the world chasing the WWA Wakeboard World Series title.
- Stop 1: Nissan X-Trial in Tokyo, Japan pulled by Tige Boats
- Stop 2: Wakestock in Toronto, Canada pulled by Malibu Boats
- Stop 3: Boardstock in Clear Lake, California pulled by Centurion Boats
- Stop 4: Gravity Games in Perth, Australia, pulled by Skier’s Choice
By the time the World Championships presented by Malibu Boats in Maroochydore, Australia came along, the points were so close in the top three spots anybody could have taken it.
When Gravity Games concluded, Rusty Malinoski was in the top spot — a mere 15 points above Daniel Watkins. Brett Eisenhauer was settled in third place and Josh Sanders in fourth. During the WWA World Championships, Daniel and Brett clearly secured their spots in the top standings but Rusty struggled and didn’t make the cut into finals. This left the door open for Daniel Watkins, who only had to place in the top 13 at the World Championships to secure his second consecutive WWA Wakeboard World Series win. Watkins rose to the occasion with a 6 th-place finish good enough for the Wakeboard World Series win, with Rusty coming in second and Brett keeping his third.
Nearly $250,000 has been distributed throughout the WWA Wakeboard World Series, with $25,000 paid out to the top three overall winners. Daniel can add being crowned 2005 WWA Wakeboard World Series winner to his resume of PWT victories and other WWA Wakeboard World Series wins throughout the year. Congratulations Daniel!
