Adkison Wins Second Title in Three Years at WWA Wakeboarding World Championships in Fort Worth

Fort Worth, TX – Coming back from a broken back that kept him out of last year’s world championships, Andrew Adkison won his second world title in three years today at the No Fear WWA Wakeboard World Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. Adkison, from Orlando, Florida, topped the finals field with a 95.00 to defeat Canada’s Rusty Malinoski and his fellow American rider Danny Harf.

Adkison, who has been a leading rider all year on the professional circuit, also won the last world championship to be held in the United States, two years ago in Orlando, Florida. He says both titles mean everything to him.

“I think just like in 2004, I’m walking away from the podium floating. It’s a dream; you just can’t put it into words. Now that it has happened twice, I’m just blown away,” said Adkison.

On the women’s side, Orlando native Dallas Friday also won her second world title in three years. And similar to Adkison, she also came back from a back injury. She re-injured her back last year in the first round of the worlds and couldn’t continue, but this year completely healthy, she cruised to the title with a 54.33.

This was final stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series, a season-long point’s chase run by the official sanctioning body of wakeboarding, the WWA. Despite his second-place finish today, Malinoski won the season-series title just beating Adkison.
