Lake Alfred, FL (September 19, 2020) – The all-new Super Air Nautique G23 pulled the world’s greatest to victory in the final day of competition at the 2021 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by YANMAR. With multiple overall titles on the line to round out the Nautique Wake Series and WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS), today’s competition was filled with amazing moments including two “world’s first” moments that left the crowd in awe!

Despite their young age, the Boys division set the crowd ablaze with their incredible riding and impressive history-making moments. Ten year old Kane Ward (USA) became the youngest rider in wakeboard history to ever land a doubleflip behind the boat as he stomped a heelside double backroll as the final trick of his run. Kane would win the division with a score of 98.00. But the metaphorical “lightning” would strike twice during the Boys division as the final rider off the dock, twelve year old Hudson Gentry (USA) brought the heat to Robin Lake by becoming the youngest rider ever to land a mobe 540 as he executed a crow mobe 540 to perfection at the end of his run. Hudson would take 2nd in the division with an 88.00, followed by Ryder Dillon in third place.

default

Hinano Kishida (JPN) showed up to the Jr. Pro Women’s finals ready to throw down one of her best performances behind the Super Air Nautique G23 in hopes of snagging her first World title. Earning what she came for, Hinano put it all together throwing a textbook batwing and a massive heelside 540 for a final score of 81.67. In second, Kira Lewis (USA) landed a huge KGB and a heelside 360 to score 76.67, while Kitt Smith would round out the podium with 70.00.

default

For the Jr. Pro Men, Parker Swope (USA) would out-ride his international field of competitors by landing multiple 720s and a mute double half-cab roll to take the win with an 81.00. Jamie Huser (SUI) would land in second place with a whirly 540 and a KGB 540 but fell early in his second pass to earn him a 77.67, followed by Stefano Comollo (ITA) with a 67.67.

The Pro Women came out swinging for the fences, and despite some rough conditions the ladies threw down in the final! Meagan Ethell (USA) would take the win with multiple 540s and an impressive nose grab tootsie-roll that earned her a score of 76.67. Dallas Friday (USA) put together a stand-up run that consisted of a KGB and an OHH to land in 2nd place with a 67.00 and Mary Morgan Howell would receive 3rd place with a 61.33.

Coming off heavy semifinals, Nautique Team Rider Cory Teunissen (AUS) put down an amazing performance in the Pro Men’s final, taking the win with a near flawless run with a 1080, a KGB 540 and a half-cab double backroll. The cherry on top was Cory’s mega-sized stalefish double backroll off the double-up that sealed the deal and gave him a score of 87.33 and earning his 3rd WWA World title. In second Nic Rapa (AUS) scored 85.00 throwing down an equally impressive run complete with a double indy tantrum with a backside 720 off the double-up scoring him an 85.00. Rounding out the podium in third, Tyler Higham landed a massive heelside 900 to receive a score of 75 and a third place finish.

To wrap-up the season, we crowned the overall winners for both the 2021 Nautique Wake Series and the 2021 Wakeboard World Series. It would be double podiums for both Meagan Ethell and Cory Teunissen as their victories today at the World Championships would push them both over the top in the overall standings and provide them both with overall victories for the 2021 season.

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (September 17, 2021) – Setting up to be another day of perfect conditions the top riders from all across the globe arrived to Robin Lake for day two competition at the 2021 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Yanmar. Known to be the catalyst of progression and always pulling the best riding in the world, the award winning Super Air Nautique G23 pulled heated semifinal rounds with Pro and Jr. Pro athletes vying for a chance to advance into the final rounds of action.

The Jr. Pro Women put on an all-time show at Callaway Gardens, with Hinano Kishida (JPN) winning heat 1 with her batwing and multiple 540s for a final score of 71.67. Avery Ruegsegger (USA) topped heat 3 by throwing a massive backroll to revert for a score of 73.33 ahead of Kira Lewis (USA) in second with 65.00, both of whom will advance them into Sunday’s final. The Jr. Pro Men came out firing in the semifinals with 7 different riders landing various 720s. Jamie Huser (SUI) was one of those aforementioned riders, and with additional tricks like his whirly 540 and KGB 540 it is easy to see why he came out on top in heat 3. After today’s results, the six riders advancing into the Jr. Pro Men’s finals are Cody Hunnicutt (USA), Jaden Reichl (USA), Daniel Johnson (USA), Parker Swope (USA), and Jamie Huser (SUI).

Day two was the first time that the Pro Women and Pro Men hit the water as they battled it out through the semifinals behind the Super Air Nautique G23. Standouts for the Pro Women were Bec Gange (AUS) and Mary Morgan Howell (USA) who each advanced out of their heats, as well as last year’s World Champion, Meagan Ethell (USA) who laid down 3 different 540s in a row that earned her a score of 75.00. For the Pro Men, every semifinal heat was absolutely stacked with talent, and with only the top two riders advancing into the finals there was no room for error from any of the athletes. Highlights from the day were Nautique Team athlete and WBWS points leader Cory Teunissen (AUS) as he landed a mute halfcab double backroll and switch mobe 540, as well as 19 year old Sam Brown (AUS) who posted the highest score of the day with his perfectly executed seatbelt-grabbed crow mobe 540 and crail whirly 540 that earned him his 85.00.

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (September 16, 2021) – A field of amateur riders gathered on the legendary waters of Callaway Gardens for day one of the 2021 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by YANMAR. Thursday held semifinal and final rounds for several of the amateur divisions, each served perfect wakes behind the world-class Super Air Nautique G23.

“It’s great to be back at Callaway Gardens and kick off this amazing week of action!” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “I’m excited to see all of the amateurs and professionals perform behind the G23 and to witness Robin Lake set the stage for the best riders to battle for World titles!”

The Men’s 1 and Men’s 2 divisions kicked off the day with some incredible performances in their semifinal rounds. Dylan Sexton came out on top with several 540s and a Moby Dick for a semifinal heat 1 score of 74.00 in the Men’s 1 division. Victor Sanchez from Houston stood out as one of the front-runners in the Masters division with a huge skeezer for a first place score of 68.33 in his semifinal, followed closely by fellow Texan Eric Deegan in second with a 61.00.

Straight into finals, Dayle Cartwright bested the Veteran’s division by putting down a blazing run for a score of 66.67 earning him his 4th consecutive World Champion title. Johnny Wofford landed just ahead of Emilio Martinez in second with 55.00, and Emilio rounded out the podium with a 51.00. For the women, Joy Manning came out firing in the Master’s Veterans final taking the win with a score of 45.

Always an inspiring portion of the event, the Adaptive Standing division put on an impressive show in their final. Blind rider, Scott Leason laid down multiple frontside 180s and an impressive wake jump behind the Super Air Nautique G23, earning a score of 75.00. Tony Mullis finished second with a score of 63.33 thanks to his surface 180s and his “go big or go home” attitude.

Taking to the water last, the Pro Men Wakeskaters ended the first day of action with their nail-biting final. Nautique team athlete Noah Flegel, the only 3-event pro athlete of the weekend competing in wakeboard, wakeskate, and wakesurf, finished in 3rd place with switch and regular 180s as well as a backside 360. Brian Grubb would land heelside and toeside indy shuv-its that helped him land in 2nd place. And Coco Mendez took the top spot with his wake-to-wake kickflip and a clean frontside 360 that sealed the deal for Coco’s 2nd World Championship title.

(Loudon, TN) July 1, 2018 – The 2018 Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro presented by Rockstar Energy took over the Tennessee River this weekend with a battle for the banjo. Pulled by the best-in-class Malibu M235, the riders were eager and the stakes were high. As stop #4 of the WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS), crucial ranking points were on the line in addition to the $47,500 in prize money up for grabs.

Sunday’s action was open to the public and local fans flocked by both land and boat to catch a glimpse of the competition. The event offered a unique opportunity for Malibu factory staff and their families to see their boats in action right at the source, pulling some of the world’s best wakeboarders.

“It’s really cool because these guys (Malibu staff) make all these great boats that we get to ride behind so to have it in their backyard is awesome,” said Malibu team rider, Oli Derome. “A lot of the employees are out here today and get to see what they work for and what we like to do. It’s a great combination for everyone.”

With fan-focused onshore activities such as face painting, inflatable slides, complimentary ice cream, and giveaways from Malibu Boats and Rockstar Energy, the pros stayed focused as semifinals began. For the Women’s Semifinals, Nicola Butler (USA), Dallas Friday (USA), and Meagan Ethell (USA) again came out on top of their heats looking like a strong three for finals. Shota Tezuka (JPN), Tony Carroll (USA), Nic Rapa (AUS), and Tony Iacconi (AUS) battled their way to the top spot in each of their heats, securing a place in the finals.

The Women’s finals presented a fully stacked top six riders. Taking full advantage of the massive M235 wake, the women went big, got risky, and put it all on the table. Meagan Ethell (USA) came out on top with a score of 91.33, featuring a super clean nose grab frontside 540, roll to blind, and Moby Dick. Jamie Lopina (USA) stole second place with back to back heelside 540s and a crowmobe scoring an 86.67. Dallas Friday (USA) came in third place with big, clean tricks in her signature style, earning a final score of 83.33.

The Men’s Finals came in hot with doubles, double-ups, and a broken board as the final round of the day began. Nic Rapa (AUS) stole the show and won the finals despite increasing wind and chop. His two stand up passes including a double indy toeside backroll, double cab roll, and both frontside and heelside 900s earned him a clean 94.00. Harley Clifford’s (AUS) double tantrum and nose grab back mobe 540 led him to a score of 89.67. The Aussies swept the podium as Tony Iacconi (AUS) sealed third place. He finished strong with a huge double cab roll and backside 720 after falling first trick, with a score of 87.67.

The Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro results led to a shuffling of the WWA WBWS overall rankings. Meagan Ethell (USA) moved into first place while Jamie Lopina (USA) moved up two spots with her podium finish, putting her in fifth place overall for the women. For the men, Tony Iacconi (AUS) moved up one spot into fourth place. Nic Rapa (AUS) increased his ranking by two spots into second place and Harley Clifford (AUS) remains the leader of the series. This weekend’s shakeups prove that with two stops to go, the race for the Title is far from over.

The 2018 Factory Pro brought good weather and great times for all who attended. Malibu Factory Pro barrels, banjos, and prize money were awarded to the top athletes after a full day of power and progression.

Orlando, FL (April 27, 2017) –Sunny skies and the perfect wakes of 4X wakeboard and 3X wakesurf boat of the year, the Super Air Nautique G23 kicked off the Nautique Wake Open presented by Rockstar Energy today at the Orlando Watersports Complex with Pro Men’s qualifying and Pro Women’s quarterfinal rounds.

Team Nautique athlete Raimi Rutledge had an amazing opening run, dominating her way into the semifinals with a heat-winning score of 75.00 going huge with a nose grab 540 and a double grabbed 360. Taylor McCullough took the win in heat two, throwing down a massive wrapped KGB in her run for a score of 76.67.

“The Super Air Nautique G23 was dialed as always today and I’m pumped to take the heat win today. All of the girls were going big and I’m excited to see what everyone brings this weekend,” said Raimi Rutledge.

The judges have their work cut out for them this week as the entire field showcased solid, progressive riding in each heat. Nautique and Rockstar Energy team rider Dean Smith had the attention of the entire Pro Men’s division during his run, throwing a massive backside 540 into the flats to qualify to the next round scoring 87.00. Nautique athlete Danny Harf looked legendary today with a heat-winning score of 79.33, landing a moby dick 540 and wrapped backside 720 to set the bar high heading to Saturday’s Pro Men’s quarterfinal.

“Every time we get the chance to compete behind the Super Air Nautique G23 the level of riding goes crazy,” said Nautique rider Dean Smith. “I felt right at home out there today and hope to keep this momentum going all the way to the final.”
