LAKE ALFRED, Fla. March 29, 2016 – The 2016 Malibu WWA Rider Experience Launches on the West Coast at Lake Las Vegas, where the glitz and glamour from the Vegas strip transforms to the water in Henderson, Nevada on May 13-15. The three-day event will serve as the industry leader in hosting elite athletes in amateur competition, as well as an educational opportunity for riders competing at any level to learn from the best in the sport. Malibu’s WWA Rider Experience will coincide as the West Regional Championship to qualify riders for the 2016 WWA Wakeboard National Championship.

The Rider Experience is a family oriented event that provides plenty of excitement throughout the weekend, such as Freeride Friday, Judge’s Experience, and the chance to surf behind Malibu’s Wakesetter on Surf Gate Sunday. Last year’s Rider Experience West in Canyon Lake, Arizona witnessed more than 50 riders on hand to showcase their skills throughout the weekend, which included Australia’s Nic Rapa claiming the win in Jr. Pro Men and USA’s Alyssa Williams in the Junior Women’s division.

For 2016, Malibu WWA Rider Experience West will host the second Malibu WWA Pro Card Qualifier, which qualifies riders for the WWA World Rankings and the right to compete at all WWA professional contests for the 2016 season.

“Winning the overall Monster Energy Triple Crown this year has my stoke so high. It was the toughest year of competition I have ever had with everyone throughout the world making it to all the stops.” states Tom Fooshee, 2-time overall champ. “It was such a blast to be able to ride with the world’s best riders at some of the newest and most progressive parks ever.”

In just two years, the Triple Crown has become known as North America’s fiercest wake park competition series. The 2011 season was the first time that riders from all over the globe followed the Triple Crown to each stop. Daniel Grant (Thailand), Matty Hasler (Australia), Dominik Gurhs (Germany), and Fredy von Osten (Germany) all battled it out versus top riders form the US such as: Tom Fooshee, Keith Lidberg, and Julian Cohen.

As the most decorated and respected wake park rider, Fooshee knows the compatition will continue to elevate as more contests with larger prize money evolve. Fooshee’s modest approach will become even more tested at the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Championships Hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE as the best riders around the globe will converge yet again. $50,000 USD will be up for grabs at this contest, and not one rider will be holding back. The WWA World Championships are open to all ages and ability levels.
