“The Malibu Rider Experience Series is so great for amateur riders and progressing the sport. Everyone also looks forward to the event coming to their region each summer, providing the opportunity to ride the latest and greatest of Malibu Boats and hang out with Malibu’s pro team,” commented Malibu athlete Tarah Mikacich. “It’s really fun for me to get to see families and enthusiasts from each part of the country come together on the water. And this year, the more condensed, two-day schedule will make it even easier on families to travel for the events and enjoy the full experience of the series.”

Since 2013 the Malibu Rider Experience has hosted thousands of riders from first-timers to those making the transition to pro, while building local and national wake communities that fully encompass the spectrum of the sport that makes wake unlike anything it’s path. New for 2020 the first day of Rider Experience will take place on Saturday with ‘Shredin’ Sarturdays’ featuring freeriding for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, product demos, instruction from Malibu Pro athletes and a Judges Experience. This fully inclusive day in all things wake will provide the opportunity for the entire family, friends and neighbors alike to familiarize themselves with the course, receive tips on the water and in the boat, and test out the industry’s latest products. The WWA Regional Championships and Pro Card Qualifiers will be held on Sunday giving amateur riders the chance to compete with riders in their region and qualify for the WWA Wakeboard National Championships and aspiring pro’s the opportunity to earn professional status. Pulled by the Malibu Wakesetter Series, riders can expect to see new locations, new gear to demo and of course everyone’s favorite main event, the Jr. Pro Series!

Spotsylvania, VA (July 23, 2019) – The Malibu Rider Experience North brought together the region’s wake community, with a taste of Virginia’s surrounding beauty for a non-stop weekend at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, VA. Malibu Pro athletes were at the lake all weekend long to give riders an all-access experience to the best of the best in instruction and competition behind the world-class Malibu 23 LSV and 25 LSV. Saturday’s Regional Championships saw Fynn Bullock-Womble take the overall Jr. Pro Series title and discovered some new talent in the north headed to the WWA Wakeboard National Championships this coming week! Surf Gate Sunday was all about shredding and passing the handle behind the massive, long waves of the Malibu Wakesetter Series topping off a well-spent weekend on the water.

“This weekend showed us exactly what the Malibu WWA Rider Experience and the entire sport of wake <g class="gr_ gr_13 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar multiReplace" id="13" data-gr-id="13">is</g> all about!
Peterborough, Ontario, CA (August 13, 2018) – For the second consecutive year, the Ontario wake community welcomed new riders and returning competitors […]

Peterborough, Ontario, CA (August 13, 2018) – For the second consecutive year, the Ontario wake community welcomed new riders and returning competitors alike to their well-known family atmosphere built on progressive riding. Hosted by Town and Country Marine, Chad Sharpe, Raph Derome, Oli Derome, Lewy Watt, and Tarah Mikacich, kicked off the weekend with Freeride Friday giving competitors an opportunity to receive the industry’s best instruction as they prepare for Saturday’s competition. Paying tribute to the likes of Chad and the Derome’s homeland, Saturday’s competition saw some incredible performances, proving that there is more Canadian talent coming down the pipeline. Surfgate Sunday closed the deal on a perfect weekend, with Malibu’s massive waves from the 24 MXZ and 23 LSV solidifying a good time had by all.

“The Malibu WWA Rider Experience brought together another fantastic season, and Canada was the perfect way to wrap up. A huge thank you to all of the support we received this year from our partners, host locations, and participants! We couldn’t have pulled it off without Malibu Boats and of course a huge shout out to Town and Country Marine for hosting us in Canada again this year!” said WWA Executive Director, Corrie Wilson.

Inspired riders from Freeride Friday, brought the stoke back to the water for Saturday’s amateur competition. Competitors of all ages and skill levels were cheered on by the crowd on the shoreline, paired with endless high fives and fist bumps off the dock.

The Jr. Boys division got the day going with some first-time contest riders all showed solid riding. Wyatt Spalding rode clean taking first place with a score of 93.00. Ian Hurlbert scored 75.00 followed by Wesley Brennan in third with 66.33.

The Girls division saw just as much athletic talent on the water with Avery Spalding going huge to land some super stylish grabs for a score of 83.33 for the win. Callie Zellenrath came in second with another all-time performance for 73.00, followed by Harmony Meirik in third scoring 70.00.

The Veterans division saw local Jason Kurz with his signature style scoring 63.00 for the first place win. Ryan Jennings came in second throwing a H/S melon 180 for a final score of 60.00.

The Wakesurf competition cranked up the heat behind the world-class wave of the Malibu 24 MXZ. Ryan Jennings hit the water again and showed some sick progression, smacking the lip for the win with a score of 61.67. Cassandra Jennings placed second scoring 58.33.

Ryan Galea punched his Pro Card yet again with the most impressive run of the day, scoring 79.33 after throwing a huge wrapped KGB and multiple spins to seal the deal. Jon McTavish brought up the pack in second with solid grabbed inverts scoring 69.00, followed by Marcus Ellis in third with a 34.00.

The Jr. Pro Men division gave the crowd a look into the future of wake, with Cam Spalding taking a huge win with 73.00, putting down switch and regular 540s. Jesse Jarrett landed a steezy T/S 360 scoring 65.67, followed by Cole Silverthorn in third with 39.67.
