AMATEUR TITLES AWARDED AS PROS DEBUT ON DAY TWO OF 2017 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY 

Acworth, GA (August 4, 2017) – Today, fourteen WWA amateur divisions hit the water in hopes of a National title behind the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 along with Jr. Pro Men Quarterfinal rounds. The pressure was on with perfect conditions making way for flawless performances. The top riders in each amateur division qualified to represent the U.S. at the 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 24-27.

The always competitive Men’s 1 semifinal round kicked off the day with Chase Shaw (UT) earning a top score of 88.67, going massive and grabbing every trick. The second spot two went to Kentucky’s Woody White (KY) charging with a super-sized batwing and melon crow-mobe scoring 84.33. KP Gagnon (FL) took the third spot scoring 80.67 with a T/S 720 and a crow-mobe. Joining them in the final placing fourth, Danny Collins (OH) scored 71.33 landing a switch crow-mobe and a T/S B/S 180.

Adam Fields (NC) took the Masters division heat win with a big front-mobe, spins and his signature on-axis ole’ 540 to seal the deal scoring 86.33. Taking second, Nick Cankar (FL) had two stand-up-passes that included a big tantrum to fakie for a score of 64.33. Thomas Pazerunes (IL) landed in third with a 54.00 score hitting a big KGB in his run.

The Jr. Pro Men’s Quarterfinal run of the day went to Guenther Oka (USA) who has been on a hot streak putting down a switch Pete Rose and a mute crow-mobe 540 to score 90.67 in heat four.

“The Super Air Nautique G23 always delivers. Everyone was boosting today and it only gets tougher from here. I’m looking to keep it together for another heat win tomorrow,” said Oka.

Heat one saw Clayton Holladay (USA) take the win throwing a nose grabbed Moby Dick in his run behind the industry-leading Super Air Nautique G23 for a score of 75.00. Elliot Digney (AUS) ripped his way to a heat two winning run today with a B/S 720 and a double half-cab roll to earn him a score of 86.33. Tyler Sommer (USA) took heat three with 79.33 putting down a late roll to blind and a switch crow-mobe. Tyler Higham (USA) put his stylish riding on display in heat five scoring 80.00 for the heat win putting down a double half cab roll and a crowmobe 540.

In the Boy’s division, Thomas Herman (IN) won his first national title with a Pete Rose, switch whirly and a B/S 540 to score 89.00. In second, Fynn Bullock Womble (NC) landed a big tantrum to blind and a switch F/S 720 for a score of 85.00  followed by Alex Albin (CA) in third with75.00 points with a big KGB.

“I love competing at the Nautique Wake Series and I’m excited to take my first national championship win! The G23 wake is so good and everyone killed it! I can’t wait for Worlds,” said 2017 Nautique WWA National Champion Thomas Herman.

Jr. Women’s rider Mary Morgan Howell (AL) couldn’t be stopped this week, throwing a scarecrow, tantrum, and two 360’s to top the podium in first place with a winning score of 80.00. Hollie Waldrop (FL) finished second with a big scarecrow and a B/S 180 to score 70.00.  In third place, Aliza Capen (TX) scored 50.00 putting her style on a cab 180.

The Veteran’s Women division never disappoints with defending World Champ Joy Manning (VA) taking the National title with a H/S backroll, T/S backroll and a tantrum. Susan Sheehan (TX) had an amazing run, throwing down stylish 180’s on her way to second place scoring 71.67. Rounding out the podium in third, the always game Kat Laird (TX) scored 60.00 with a F/S 180 and a melan grab.

The Girls final capped off the day with Elle Christensen (UT) scoring 86.33 to take her the National title with a solid run that included a big scarecrow and tantrum. In second place, Kyla Hendricks (WI) threw some big grabbed 180’s and was all smiles coming back to the dock with a score of 78.33. Placing third, Madison Lavrack (NC) put down a smooth roast beef 180 and a 360 in her run scoring 70.00. The multi-talented Kira Lewis (NJ) placed fourth going big with solid grabs and 180’s.

Day three of the 2017 Nautique WWA National Wakeboard Championships begins at 8:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, August 5th with all remaining Amateur final rounds Jr. Pro, Pro Wakeskate and Pro Women semifinals and Pro Men Quarterfinals.
