Stop Seven of the WWA Wakeboard World Series Takes On the Danube River September 1-3 for the Malibu Vienna Pro Presented by Rockstar Energy

Stop seven of the WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) takes on the Danube River September 1-3 for the Malibu Vienna Pro presented by Rockstar Energy. For the first time in history, Austria will host the world’s best wakeboarders and wakesurfers as the Malibu Evolution Pro Series brings it’sinternational campaign to one of Europe’s most amazing cities. The Danube flows through ten countries, more than any other river in the world, serving as one of Europe’s most important waterways. Riders will lean on their experience, factoring the current into their pass strategy.

The Malibu Vienna Pro is sure to shake up the WBWS rankings with a diverse field of competitors posing a serious threat to the current top five going into the final two events. Raph Derome returns to competition for the second time this season after a solid showing early in the year, placing third at the Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro. Drawing Raph in an early round is dangerous territory for riders remaining within reach of the overall WBWS podium. In the Pro Women’s division, a shuffle of riders competing here in Vienna could prove to narrow the gap between where Meagan Ethell and Nicola Butler currently sit in the rankings, giving them a more likely shot at the overall podium.

Stop two of the Malibu Wake Series, this event includes Pro Men and Pro Wakesurf divisions behind the massive wave of the Malibu M235. Top riders from all over the world are making the trip to Vienna to step on to the world stage of wake, with the hope of walking away with the Malibu Vienna Pro title.

The action all starts tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CEST. Stay tuned to the World Wake Association on Facebook and Instagram (@thewwa) for updates throughout the weekend along with heat-by-heat scoring on Twitter (@thewwa).
