If you don’t know who Dominik Gührs is, you will soon. He’s the reigning 2011 WWA Wake Park World Champion and 2011 WWA Wake Park World Series Overall Champion. Oh yea, and he’s German, which makes perfect sense knowing how natural he is on the cable. Niki, as he’s known, can use the cable like no other. He can figure out the angles and leverage of the cable within the first couple of laps around. This is the precise reason that Niki won the Pro Men World Championship last year at Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi. The right-footed cable at Al Forsan is a 6-tower shorter cable, while many riders were having trouble adapting to a smaller cable, Niki was busy linking Raley 540s and Back Mobe 540s together with no problem. Check out what Niki has been up to on his journey to Wake Park Worlds. Read the rest of this entry »

Daniel Grant might just be the most entertaining rider on the planet. This duel-sport wakeboarder and wakeskater is viewed as a competition threat, no matter if he’s strapped in or not. Known as the Candy Man or Turtle (Tao), Daniel is a 14-year-old globetrotter; this Thai rider started traveling the world alone in 2011 and expanded on his travel in 2012. Daniel set the record for youngest professional world champion in WWA history by taking the 2010 WWA Wake Park World Championship; and he’s won multiple WWA Wake Park World Series stops in Pro Men, Pro Features, and Pro Wakeskate as well. Tom Fooshee, James Windsor, and Nick Davies have their eyes set on Daniel, in fact all three believe that he’s going to podium in at least one division at the 2012 WWA Wake Park World Championships hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort.

Hands down the best rookie in all of wakeboarding this year is James Windsor. He’s a 17-year-old Australian rider that has taken the world of wakeboarding by storm. Windsor has been jet-setting all over the place this year, riding in all 6 stops of the WWA Wake Park World Series including the Monster Energy Triple Crown stops, Wake the Line in Germany, and the Grand Opening at Repub1c Wake Park in Manila, Philippines.

James’ mindset is that he’s got long hair and doesn’t care, if he needs a massive backside 900 1st trick off the dock… no problem. Every rider in the field will try to put the pressure on Windsor, but what they don’t know is that Windsor will step up to the challenge and knock them down every time. Windsor won two WWA Wake Park World Series stops back-to-back in Features only and had several other podium finishes in 2012, and the biggest contest of the year is still to come.
