Big Riding, Big Partidos and New Faces Highlight Brazil Pro

From Nova Lima, Brazil (May 17, 2015) – When pro wakeboarders hit the water in Brazil, the fans get stoked. It’s pretty cool to witness the positive energy while the top wakeboarders do their work on the water while over 3,000 people packed out the shores and the dance floor all day and all night. Skating, SUP demos, dance parties and plenty more fun was to be had at Clube Serra de Moeda all weekend long.

With the best wakeboarders around and an atmosphere like no other wakeboard contest in the world, ridiculous tricks went down at the 8th edition of Campeonato Mundial de Wakeboard 2015. Brazil got to see rad tricks like Dean Smith’s heelside backside 540 huge to the flats, JD Webb’s wrapped nose-grabbed toeside backside 720, Noah Flegel’s heelside frontside 900 and Harley Clifford’s indy-grabbed double tantrum off of the double-up.

Big, clean, flawless runs were being highly rewarded by the judging panel and towboat driver number one, Brian Grubb, had the boat running on point. When the finals were put together, it consisted of Noah Flegel, Mike Dowdy, Austin Hair, JD Webb, Phil Soven, and undefeated in 2015, Harley Clifford.

The two-run format with zero falls would once again to prove it’s excitement and value to the sport of wakeboarding; shuffling riders up and down several places by the end of the finals. In the end, it was Harley Clifford, clinching another win, Noah Flegel placing higher than ever in a contest and Phil Soven finishing out the podium in 3rd. JD Webb, Mike Dowdy, and Austin Hair would round out 4th, 5th and 6th, respectfully.

But the contest wasn’t just the only thing going off; DJ’s and bands kept the entertainment pumping into the early morning hours. A VIP area specifically designed to showcase the best wakeboarders on the planet in a true celebrity presence set the bar at a whole other level.
