From Abu Dhabi, UAE (October 13, 2014) — Prize Money for the 2014 WWA Wake Park World Championships hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort has been raised by 33% from the previous year’s $30,000 USD to $40,000 USD. The additional $10,000 in cash has been raised directly by the WWA and Al Forsan International Sports Resort in an effort to continuously grow the prestigious event to it’s highest potential. Competitive wakeboarding took a big step forward today as the WWA Cancun Pro concluded in Puerto Cancun, Mexico with Phil Soven and Dallas Friday riding to victory behind the Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV.

With a format encouraging progressive riding, Pro Men were allowed a double up to finish their runs in the semis and finals. History was made as Japan’s Shota Tezuka boosted off his double up and landed a heelside frontside 1080 for the first time ever in competition. “It all happened so fast.” Tezuka said with a smile. “All of a sudden I was riding away thinking to myself, ‘I still have the handle!’” Read the rest of this entry »

Cancun, MEXICO (Oct. 4, 2014) – Wakeboarding’s best riders in the world lit up the waters of Puerto Cancun today behind the Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV for the Pro Mens quarterfinals and Pro Womens semifinals of the WWA Cancun Pro presented by Malibu Boats.

2014 Cancun Pro: Friday Recap

Cancun, MEXICO (Oct. 3, 2014) – Wakeboarding’s most elite contest of 2014 kicked off today with a qualifying round at Puerto Cancun, Mexico hosted by the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) and Malibu Boats.

Qualifying riders battled for seeding to join the top riders in the world who are already qualified for Saturday’s competition. The Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV served up a massive wake and the venue delivered with great conditions. Read the rest of this entry »

WPTC_2014Saturday marked the final day of the fifth year of the Monster Energy Wake Park Triple Crown and it was one of the wildest finishes in the series’ history. With both Graeme Burress and Tom Fooshee failing to make it past the quarterfinals, the overall title was open for the taking.
