Amateur Divisions Kept The Stoke High At The 2018 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships Presented by Rockstar Energy

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL (August 2, 2018) – Weeks of training and preparation gave way to the week of the summer park competitors have been waiting for, day one of the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy! This year’s event also marks the 10th anniversary of the WWA Wake Park National Championships and Wake Park World Series. Friends, family, and wake park teams from across the nation have come out to the all-new Quarry Cable Park to cheer on the best riders from across North America. Amateur quarterfinal rounds set the stage for what’s setting up to be an amazing weekend of riding and celebrating all things wake.

Five divisions of Traditional Cable disciplines kicked off this exciting weekend of competition. Over 15 wake parks from across the nation were represented with riders competing for both individual National titles and team overall Points Chase titles.

The Quarry Cable Park is a first-class park with everything from the features to the facilities, creating the optimal blend of perfection,” said WWA Executive Director, Corrie Wilson. “The riding has already been insane with some intense competition keeping the crowd cheering all day! Looking forward to seeing what day two brings us!”

The Amateur Wakeskate quarterfinal rounds took the top four riders from each heat moving through to the semifinals. Jadon Scures (Revo) took semifinal heat one win with a nearly flawless run, ending with a 100.00 to start off day one of the competition. Scures will be accompanied in the finals by Trent Stuckey (OWC) who earned his second place finish with 85.00 points, and Barrett Swope (WNH) in third with 77.50 points. The semifinal heat two top spot went to Parker Swope (WNH) with a 97.00, followed by Gavin Stuckey (OWC) with a 93.00 and Daniel Laskowski (OWC) in third with 72.00 points.

The top three riders from each quarterfinal heat advanced to the semifinals in the Beginner Wakeboard division with a total of six riders earning their spot in Saturday’s final round. In semifinal heat one, Ike Phillips (Term) took the top spot with a score of 98.00 moving on to the finals along with Hudson Lambert (WNH). Heat two saw Zachary Wean (Quarry) take the top score of 95.00 ahead of Annaston Adams (Term) who will join him in the final round. Gavin Greer (Term) took win in semifinal heat three with a score of 89.00, followed by Hailey Flinkingshelt (Shark) to round out the final round.

In the Novice Wakeboard division, three riders from each quarterfinal heat advanced to the semifinals, with the top two riders from each semifinal advancing to the finals. Advancing to the finals from today’s semifinal heat wins were Jagger Grace (HYD), Reiner Gallogly (Rose), Nicholas Williams (WNH), Tristen Cannon (Shark), Cameron Flinkingshelt (Shark), and Jorge Garizurieta (Mayan).

The Intermediate Wakeboard division advanced the top three riders from each quarterfinal heat to Friday’s semifinal round of fifteen. Quarterfinal heat wins went to Connor Wooten (Term), Piper Harris (OWC), Andrew Hopkins (Quarry), Barrett Swope (WNH), and Bryce Thompson (HYD).

The top three riders from each Advanced Wakeboard division quarterfinal round made it through to the semifinals set to take place tomorrow afternoon at the beautiful Quarry Cable Park. Winning their quarterfinal heats were Fynn Bullock (Shark), Theo Koester (OWC), Parker Swope (WNH), Gavin Stuckey (OWC), and Trent Stuckey (OWC). Tomorrow’s semifinal round will go from fifteen riders to a six person final to take place on Saturday afternoon.

Finishing out the first day with a bang, Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC) currently holds down the top spot in the Points Chase Team Competition with 1195 points, followed by Wake Nation Houston (WN-H) in second with 1000 points and Shark Wake Park (Shark) in third with 965 points.

Day two of the 2018 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships begins at 8:00 a.m. CT on Friday, August 3 with thirteen divisions including a mix of Features qualifying and quarterfinal rounds, Traditional semifinals, ad Pro division debuts.
