Waco, Texas (September, 19, 2018) – For the first time ever, General Motors Marine Engine Technology will be the presenting sponsor of the 2018 Nautique USA National Wakesurf Championships, hosted by Nautique Boat Company and the World Wake Association (The WWA). The National Wakesurf Championships will be held September 28-30 on the Brazos River in Waco, Texas and will exclusively feature the 4x Wakesurf Boat of the Year, the Super Air Nautique G23, with GM’s world-class powertrains. Athletes from across the country will battle it out for the 2018 National title and $20,000 in prize money.
“More than a century of GM powertrain engineering and design expertise means the competitors will surf endlessly on the boats’ wakes,” said Tony Brower, director, GM Marine Sales and Engineering. “Our GM powertrains that are proven on pavement are tested for water. Across thousands of hours, we expand and refine, applying the latest innovations from across our industry for even greater power, efficiency and quality. That’s how we bring 40 years of real-world dependability to the water and this sport.”
The Super Air Nautique G23 features GM Marine Engine Technology’s powertrains, which are marinized by PCM Marine Engines.
“We are extremely excited to once again have the support of GM Marine Engine Technology. The GM brand has the continual ability to elevate every project and event they support,” commented WWA President Shannon Starling. “The powerhouse combination of GM Marine Engine Technology and Nautique Boats will further excel wake sports, while creating life-long memories for our athletes and families alike.”
On top of all the action behind the world-class Super Air Nautique G23, the Nautique USA National Wakesurf Championships presented by GM Marine Engine Technology, will feature post competition nightly events. The events will include a Friday night Surf Demonstration featuring the Rockstar Energy Pro Surf Team, and exclusive access for competitors to the all-new BSR Surf Resort on Saturday, September 29th. Priority in the pool on Saturday will be awarded based on when the rider registered for the National Wakesurf Championships.
