NEW AMATEUR NATIONAL TITLES AWARDED ON DAY TWO OF 2019 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY

Monroe, WA (July 26, 2019) – Today, sixteen WWA amateur divisions hit the water in hopes of securing a National title behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23 along with Jr. Pro Men Quarterfinal rounds. Quickly becoming a competitor’s favorite location, the cooler temperatures and surrounding beauty of the Pacific Northwest made way for flawless performances on the water. Riders in each amateur division qualified to represent the U.S. at the 2019 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy held in Playa del Carmen on October 17th– 20th. 

“We’re excited to be back out west for another week of non-stop wakeboard action with our extended family of wake. It is so fun watching the athletes put down their best performances and witnessing all of the progression that took place this summer,” commented WWA Executive Director Corrie Wilson. “The Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships is the largest national event of the season, bringing together first-time competitors with seasoned veterans all competing for a chance to not only take home the National title but to represent the U.S. at the Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships this fall.”

Day two kicked off with a very competitive Men’s 1 semifinal round with Nicholas Brown (KY) throwing down with a crowmobe and wrapped KGB, earning a top score of 81.50. The second spot went to Cam Alger (FL) going big and keeping it technical with every trick, scoring 79.00. Dayle Cartwright (FL) took the top spot in the Veterans final round scoring 87.33 with a tantrum to blind. Joining Cartwright on the podium placing second, Chad Lowe (CA) scored 81.50 followed by Darren Holsey (OR) in third. The Jr. Men’s Final saw Dylan Sexton (LA) have the run of his life sticking a Moby dick and a huge H/S 540 claiming his first National title and a final score of 82.00.

The Jr. Pro Men’s Quarterfinal was the event to be seen today with every competitor coming out of the gates absolutely firing. Heat one of the Jr.Pro Men Quarterfinals saw Bryce Grey (AUS) take the win displaying his unique style with a batwing to blind and indy roll to blind absolutely charging the wake of the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 for a final score of 82.67. Noah Wildman (USA) rode away his heat two winning run today with a huge wrapped H/S B/S 720 and a whirly 540 to earn him a score of 90.67. Tyler Worrall (USA) took heat three throwing down a nose grab B/S 540 and a funny wrapped mute H/S F/S 720  for a final score of 88.00. Fynn Bullock-Womble (USA) closed out heat four scoring 94.00 for the heat win putting down back to back H/S 720s.

Alex Albin (CA) took the Boys division heat win standing up his run with a big Dum Dum and H/S F/S 720 to seal the deal scoring 88.67. Taking second, Beaux Wildman (IN) displayed his confidence on the wake of the Super Air Nautique G23 throwing a wrapped KGB for a score of 83.67. Carson McDaniel (OH) landed in third with a 70.00 hitting a stylish nuclear H/S B/S 180 in his run. The Jr. Women kept the momentum going into afternoon with division winner Hollie Waldrop (FL) throwing a tantrum and T/S frontroll for a winning score of 76.67. Ellie Patrick (TX) finished in a close second with a H/S backroll to score 62.33, just ahead of Elle Christensen rounding out the podium with a final score of 52.33. 

In the Adaptive Standing division, Jim Von Normann (MT) landed a variety of switch and regular wake to wake jumps to grab the top spot with a score of 74.00.  In second was Scott Leason (CA) who’s quickly becoming a crowd favorite with his impressive determination on and off the water. Leason stuck multiple back to back 180s to earn his final score of 61.33. 

The Jr. Boys Beginner division proved that age is just a number with Zac Miller (MS) taking the National title going huge behind the Super Air Nautique G23 landing a H/S Roastbeef to score 82.00. Kyle Bendele (TX) had an equally impressive run, earning him second place finish with 67.67 points, just ahead of Max Kofke in third with 55.67.

The Girls final closed out another legendary day at Lake Tye Park with Madison Lavrack (NC) locking up some hardware, scoring 76.67 with a H/S backroll and H/S F/S 360 for her first-place run. In second place, Jordan Wolfe (NC) threw 180s in every direction with a score of 69.00, ahead of Kira Lewis (FL) in third who put down a back to back 180s in her run to score 54.33.

Day three of the 2019 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy begins at 9:00 a.m. PT on Friday, July 26th featuring four Amateur division final rounds, three Pro division semifinal founds, and the Pro Men Quarterfinals.
