THE 2018 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY BEGIN THIS THURSDAY

For the first time in history, just under forty countries from around the globe will participate at the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships, kicking off the 30th year celebration of the World Wake Association. 

The 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships will be held on August 30th – September 2nd in Miyoshi City, Japan and is open to competitors of all ages and skill levels! Register now to represent your country and avoid late fees! You will not be able to register the day of the event.

All riders representing countries outside of the U.S. are NOT required to qualify to compete at the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships. U.S. riders must have competed at the U.S. National Championships to qualify. Podium finishes are not required.

2018 Annual WWA Membership is required for all competitors.

Amateur Semifinals & Finals – 8:00AM local time
Pro Semifinals
Awards Ceremony – for all completed amateur divisions
City Night Festival @ Awa Ikeda Gymnasium – 6:00PM local time

Sunday, September 2nd
Amateur Finals – 9:00AM local time
Pro Finals
Awards Ceremony – 4:15PM local time

*Check-in is not required as we understand everyone is arriving at different times and it may be difficult to attend. There will be some buses going to the Gymnasium. 
Riders that do not make the Wednesday check-in, may check in on site up to one hour before their divisions posted start time each day. Riders must have entry, current WWA membership, and bio sheet completed ahead of time.

Transportation

Buses will be provided to and from the event site, and each of the host hotels during the event. The buses are courtesy of the event and do not require a ticket or reservation.

There are two local airports near Miyoshi City, Tokushima Airport and Takamatsu Airport that you can connect to from Tokyo area airports.

If you choose to not connect to Miyoshi City through the local airports, another option is to take the trains to the station nearest your airport. If you plan to visit other areas of Japan a Rail Pass could be a money saving option. Find more info HERE.

Contest Format
2 passes through the course
Wakeboard: 2 falls (1 pickup)
Wakeskate: 3 falls (2 pickups)
There will be no practice rides

Entry Fee
Pro Divisions $200 USD
Amateur Divisions $175 USD

Travel Tips

There is a possibility the water may be chilly. We recommend bringing a wetsuit or heater top.Don’t forget your passport

Japanese outlets take two-prong plugs only. We recommend bringing an adapter for all other types of plugs.

It is very hard to exchange currency in Miyoshi City. We recommend exchanging your dollar to Yen at the airports prior to arrival.
